Los Angeles emcee and songstress iLL Camille brings us the humanizing video for "Black Gold," off her latest LP Heirloom. The production credits on this song are threefold: DJ Battlecat, DdotOmen, and Paperboy Fabe. "Black Gold" speaks to Camille's unparalleled strength in the faces of injustices that come with being black in America.  About the track itself, Camille says "I didn't think too much. I said what came to mind and heart. Always. I rather the person listening to the song dissect it. But if I had to sum up the feeling of it, what needs to be taken away most is that no matter the circumstances, my people, God's people, gon' prevail."

The video was shot by rising director Red Carter, and acts as a tour of Camille's hometown. The video features the very same LA grit that colors her flow and her imagery. She delivers rattling bars about freedom and struggle with a concentrated swagger, owning the beat with her dusty vocals. That West Coast bounce is not as elastic as you might expect. Instead, iLL Camille breathes some air into her flow, allowing her lyrics to float back down to the beat and level the listener.

iLL Camille will be on heading out on her Heirloom tour July 27th, check out the dates below and catch a show:
