Dead Battery releases new DnB EP; half monster, half spacey, all massive

In the past, Austrian drum 'n' bass producer, Dead Battery, has released on the world famous Hospital Records, Big Beat Records, as well as Buzzard Gulch. His latest EP, The Devil's Signature, is fresh off of Black Tiger Sex Machine's label, Kannibalen, and packs quite a wallop. The first time I heard Dead Battery was after the release of Martin Solveig's "Hello" remixes. He's come quite a long way since then, but his latest EP sounds like the guy's been fashioning breaks for a few decades. It's powerful, well-structured, and hits both ends of the dnb spectrum; the fast-paced metal influenced side with "The Devil's Signature" and the more mellow flowing liquid side with "Just For Now".

"Just For Now" is rooted in the sounds of artists like Subwave, Klute, and Logistics. In fact, it sounds a lot like "Bring Me Down" by Subwave and the bootleg of Little Dragon's "Twice" from Analogue. The tune definitely has its own voice, but the comparison isn't difficult to make. "The Devil's Signature" takes on a more Calyx, Teebee, Figure style with its heavy-hitting successive drumming patterns and roaring saturated bass line. While "The Devil's Signature" gets the blood pumping, "Just For Now" takes us back down to earth. Though just a mere two songs in length, The Devil's Signature does a phenomenal job of showcasing Dead Battery's talent and potential.
