British whizz kid James Blake has had quite a career so far. The twenty five year old Londoner is a jack of all trades when it comes to music, from producing to songwriting to singing and even playing an array of instruments, the boy can do it all, and to the highest standard as well. He recently worked with Chance The Rapper on the electronic/hip-hop crossover "Life Round Here", and now he's lent his hand to one of my personal favourites from Drake's Nothing Was The Same, "Come Thru". Keeping a big cut of Drake's original vocals, including a whole verse, James manages to completely switch the vibe up, adding in disjointed synths and another trap heavy beat that gives a much more sinister tone in comparison to the original.
Blake's album Overgrown, which was released earlier this year to a lot of critical acclaim, is currently nominated to with the Mercury Prize, an award that goes to the best British album of the year, which will be announced tomorrow night. The album has a lot of good competition against it, with the likes of Disclosure, Arctic Monkeys, Rudimental and more all vying for the award.
