Last seen on EARMILK with their Kubrick-inspired video for "Moonlight", Black Tiger Sex Machine graces our pages once again, this time with an upcoming Canadian artist by the name of SNAILS. The Kannibalen Records collaboration, known as "Shockwave", immediately caught my attention for it's uniqueness, a blend of electro house, electronica, and sounds that don't really conform to any genre. In fact if I had to choose one track it reminded me of, it would be the genre-bending "Green Space" by Bansi & Riktam. However, "Shockwave" goes beyond steady tech house beats, weaving extended chords, psychedelic bubbling, and rounded grinds around house climbs and rock-inspired melodies. For now "Shockwave" seems to be a one time collaboration that started from SNAIL's WIP track and grew to completion through combined efforts. However, I'm hedging my bets that the label founders and their Canadian brother will join forces again to give us another thrilling ride.
