Nashville-based singer-songwriter and visual artist Winston Liv has released their new single, “Muse.”
Released as the first single in the run-up to Winston Liv’s debut album, Joan of Snark, “Muse” is an indie-pop track that Liv wrote as an ode to the crush they had during middle and high school.
“I would draw them a lot and would even write poetry about them, meanwhile they never knew I existed,” says Winston Liv. “This song is basically a timeline about having a one-sided crush, and even though it’s not requited, it’s at least fun having an inspiration to create art.”
“Muse,” like the rest of the upcoming Joan of Snark, is about obsessive first loves, insecurity, and coming-of-age, all to paint a picture about Winston Liv’s particular experience growing up, which isn’t to say that the feelings behind it are ones of darkness.
“Muse” is a bouncy, fun track that captures the excitement of having a crush rather than the weight of longing for one, making it all the more enjoyable to listen to.
