Detroit multi-instrumentalist and composer Jasper Dean has released their second single, “BEST BEST FRIEND.”
Moving on from their first single, “TELEMONKEY,” which was created to satirize the “indie sleaze” trend, “BEST BEST FRIEND” is another satirical take, this time focusing on the experience of second-hand embarrassment and social friction.
A catchy guitar hook plays as barely-there mumbly vocals are layered with fuzzed-out screeches and a driving drumbeat. “BEST BEST FRIEND” is jagged in the best way – it’s a party-starter, frenetically angry, and very aware of itself.
The track is another glimpse into their upcoming debut LP, TOY COLLAGES, which blends elements of '80s hardcore, synth-punk, and industrial music. Dean has also been praised for playing every instrument on the record.
