Producer and singer-songwriter Will Foulke returns with his third studio album, Let’s Try Again, a 13-track release that blends rock, pop, and blues into a deeply emotional listening experience. Built around themes of heartbreak, resilience, and renewal, the album reflects both personal reflection and universal emotion, with expressive instrumentation and melodic songwriting at its core. Inspired by the timeless feel of live-recorded records and classic groups like The Beatles, Foulke set out to create a project that feels both nostalgic and enduring.

Will Foulke began making music at the age of 12 after first picking up an acoustic guitar, drawing early inspiration from guitar legends such as Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Over the years, he developed a distinctive pop-rock-blues style while producing music at Truphonic Studios, amassing over 180,000 Spotify streams and releasing two prior albums, including his debut Charleston Blues, where he performed every instrument himself. With Let’s Try Again, he expands his creative approach by collaborating with studio musicians and co-producer Elliott Elsey, embracing a more open, genre-fluid sound that allows for greater emotional depth and authenticity.

Across the album, Foulke channels lived experiences of loss, relationships, and personal growth into songs that were largely written in the studio, beginning with guitar-driven chord progressions and evolving through layered arrangements. The title itself reflects the project’s central message, persevering through life’s challenges and choosing to move forward with passion and determination. With its blend of heartfelt storytelling, dynamic production, and reflective lyricism, Let’s Try Again solidifies Foulke’s continued evolution as an independent artist committed to capturing the full spectrum of the human experience. We talk to the artist about the new album, recording in the studio The Beatles and more.

What inspired the overall concept behind Let’s Try Again?

Let’s Try Again was inspired by my passion for music groups like the Beatles and live-sounding albums. I wanted to create something that feels timeless and could be produced in any era.

Can you walk us through your songwriting process for this album?

Most songs were composed in the studio. I would come in and create chord progressions on my guitar and then write lyrics. Then we would track each instrument separately and make demos.

Let’s Try Again explores heartbreak, resilience, and renewal, was there a specific personal experience that shaped the album?

Let’s Try Again is a culmination of multiple events in my life that I felt compelled to write about. Loss of relationships and connection was a big inspiration for this project.

The album title suggests a sense of hope, what does “trying again” mean to you personally?

Trying again means continuing to live your life with passion and determination even after feeling defeated by life’s circumstances.

How does Let’s Try Again differ from your previous albums, especially your debut Charleston Blues?

This album differs from my previous work because it has more of my raw emotion in the songwriting and this time I got to collaborate with excellent studio musicians.

You performed every instrument on your debut, what was it like collaborating with other musicians on this project?

Having other musicians on this project was amazing because they knew exactly what to do and how to compliment my arrangements with great skill.

Were there any risks you took creatively on this record that pushed you outside your comfort zone?

I didn’t confine myself to a specific genre on this album which was something I was not used to. It allowed me to be more authentic though this time around.

How would you describe your signature sound to someone hearing your music for the first time?

My signature sound is layered, grandiose production with emotional and raw lyrics.

What was it like working with co-producer Elliott Elsey on this project?

Elliott Elsey is a close friend of mine and working with him in the studio is one of my favorite activities. He knows exactly what I’m going for and I feel our shared appreciation of music has brought us very close.

Can you share any memorable moments from the recording sessions?

Joking with the sessions musicians and Elliott in between takes has got to be one of the studio memories I cherish the most. Everyone involved in this album has a great sense of humour.

Which track do you think best represents the heart of the album?

I think the title track, “Let’s Try Again” captures the essence of this album because it has very emotional subject matter in the lyrics and the haunting backing track compliments that nicely.

What do you hope listeners take away after hearing Let’s Try Again?

I hope listeners feel understood after listening to this album and I hope that people can relate to my message.
