Tjmendoza dives into self-love and kindness on reflective album 'Choose To Be Kind'

Toronto rapper, producer, director, editor and hip-hop recording artist Tjmendoza unveils introspective album Choose To Be Kind, a seven-track collection that weaves through spirituality, faith and love. Capturing his personal growth and the power of belief that allows him to approach situations differently, the self-reflective core of the album is underpinned by layered sonics and laid-back delivery.

Offering up an unfiltered reflection of his thoughts and reality, the project gives us a glimpse of his introspective mind, shaped experience, emotion, and growth. Deeply personal yet sharply relatable as he evokes upliftment and positivity across each booming note, the album reminds us to love openly and ushers us to find hope during hard times.

A project shaped not just by Tjmendoza’s experiences but his creativity, every song was written, recorded, produced, and arranged by the Canadian  songwriter as he unfolds his deepening relationship with God.

Tapping into self-love and living with purpose, the empowering album moves seamlessly from the hazy tinges of “All Stated Gem,” to the more anthemic tones of “Prove It To Me,” and the melodic feel of “Say You Love Me,” and the warm closing notes of “For My Kin,” in a perfect showcase of both his emotive and sonic range.

Leaving us with the reminder to seek out positivity, give ourselves grace in hard times and appreciate the now, the each track was crafted with kindness and gratitude at its core. Speaking of the message behind the album, he says, “One hope I have for this album is that people understand that even in times of uncertainty or hardship, things will unfold the way they’re meant to. No one owes us anything in this life, so when people show up or go out of their way for you, be genuinely grateful.”

Having honed his natural interest in songwriting before building a soundscape that offerings a blend of cloud rap and trap, Tjmendoza’s smooth, hypnotic flow alongside his conceptual yet heartfelt lyrics leaves us with a note of calm laden with plenty to ponder upon.
