M.T ROADS is back with a cinematic single that pays homage to life's turbulent moments. “HOLD ONTO” feels less like a song and more like a cinematic experience. Fusing indie, electronic, and experimental pop, this release invokes nostalgia that ushers the listener into a dream world where the past and present collide.

From the opening notes, “HOLD ONTO” locks you into a deep, atmospheric sound design. The song takes off from a drone emitted from Moog equipment and its hi-hat tailgate, establishing a meditative sonic direction. As lush synths, haunting piano chords, and sultry beats amass, M.T. ROADS builds a world that feels both expansive and intimate. It is a song that needs to be felt as much as heard.

M.T ROADS’ intimate contemplation of friends, lovers, and family memories lays the emotional backbone of “HOLD ONTO.” This nostalgia is palpable in each note, creating a song that feels like a personal reverie rendered into music. The true WONDERS occurred on the road through the mountains, where Mike, the genius behind M.T. ROADS, discovered creativity with his acoustic guitar. That’s where the track formed, melding organic and electronic textures into a raw but nicely polished whole.

With parallels in Future Islands, Hayden Thorpe, and RY X, “HOLD ONTO” is a masterclass in emotional sound storytelling. The track’s sultry, pulsing rhythm and airy vocal delivery feel ideal for late-in-the-day navel-gazing or a blissed-out drive through city lights. It’s a song that hangs in the air long after the last note has been played, challenging listeners to continue excavating their memories and feelings.

“HOLD ONTO” sees M.T. ROADS further prove his talent for creating music that resonates on a deeply human level. It’s a song about looking back very much, but it’s also about accepting those moments and those times, feeling those things in the moment, and cherishing them when they’re done.
