With the British summer somewhat missing in action so far it’s up to Welsh producer Kelly Lee Owens to fill that void and drop an infectious and resolutely positive electronic ode to the sun’s healing rays, physically and mentally. It’s a long, slow-building electronic dive into bass notes and shiny synths. The retro-futuristic vibe she creates is accomplished with the deft touch she’s become known for as Owens’ voice whirls around the bouncy groove.
This is the first fruit of the producer’s new album “Dreamstate” due out October 18th on the new Dirty Hit sub-label dh2, founded by The 1975 drummer and producer George Daniel. It may have missed most festivals but the track aches to be played to euphoric crowds, arms raised in the air and blissed out in hot seasonal weather, Failing that an equally packed out sweaty club will do very nicely too.
