After a nine-year hiatus, Only Real, the musical project of Niall Galvin, triumphantly returns with his new single, “Good Morning.” For those who were captivated by his 2015 debut album, Jerk At The End Of The Line, this new release not only serves as a reminder of Only Real's unique talent but also as a testament to his growth and resilience as an artist.

“Good Morning” embodies everything fans loved about Only Real: the sun-soaked, psychedelic pop sound, the effortless charisma, and the raw, intimate vocal style that made his music stand out in the first place. From the opening chords, the song feels like a warm embrace, instantly transporting listeners back to the carefree yet introspective vibe that characterized his earlier work.

The song opens with the lines: "I was all in when you kissed me / Falling don't lift me / Freckles in the winter months / Good Morning did you miss me?" These lyrics set the tone for the entire track, blending themes of love, heartbreak, and personal growth. The repetition of “Good morning did you miss me?” throughout the song feels both like a nostalgic yearning and a triumphant proclamation of his return.

The lyrical content is deeply personal, yet universally relatable. Lines like “And my heart has broken like twice / Since it split in half with your lies” and “And if I'm so clever I bury it down / But fun past three that's never been found” reveal a vulnerability that resonates. Only Real’s ability to convey complex emotions through simple yet poignant lyrics is one of his greatest strengths.

Musically, “Good Morning” is a delightful blend of woozy guitars and lively drum samples, creating a soundscape that is both nostalgic and fresh. The psych-pop elements are prominent, giving the song a dreamy quality that is perfect for summer. The production is polished yet retains a certain rawness, which adds to its charm and authenticity.

In the context of his career, “Good Morning” is more than just a comeback single; it’s a reaffirmation of Only Real’s place in the music world. His absence over the past nine years left fans speculating about his whereabouts, but during this time, he has been quietly honing his craft, writing and composing for various brands and projects.

The song’s relatable sentiment and catchy nature make it an instant favorite, and it’s clear that Only Real’s time away has only deepened his artistry. “Good Morning” is a welcome return that will not only satisfy long-time fans but also has the potential to attract new listeners who appreciate well-crafted, emotionally resonant pop music.
