UK songwriter and musical polymath AUGUST – Returns with a psychedelic, dreamy new single that crosses all musical boundaries. The new single “Movie,” explores the realms of electronica, dream-pop, and experimental. Utilising leftfield drum production and vocal harmonies to stunning effect – it’s a track that keeps the listener guessing throughout.
As an artist with a diverse skill set – AUGUST may be known to some listeners as the lead singer and director of UK festival regulars Bass Choir – where she’s picked up fans including Spectrasoul and Nomine, “Movie” showcases an artist – not afraid to push boundaries. The artist explains that:
"It’s probably one of my most honest, heartfelt and direct creations yet. Unclassifiable by genre, and inspirational by intention; Movie is a story of requited love, and unyielding support not excluding its usual trials and tribulations – with a dreamy emphasis, yet conscientious reflection on the elements that are currently taking place around us.
It’s easy for us to sometimes feel separate from another person's circumstances, achievements or misfortunes – almost like fiction, to live in one’s own little bubble, an imaginary connection, a bit like love in that sense but once we ‘allow’ ourselves to truly engage, to truly care that connection becomes more of a reality and it is harder to disassociate ourselves from it once you've let it in."
