Our Kids share a grunge-driven, moody indie anthem "salad"

Blending cultures and lived experiences, Our Kids emerge from the Italian countryside, just south of Rome with a sound that's both fresh and nostalgically familiar. The band, consisting of Niccolò and Edoardo, have crafted a track that seamlessly blends brit-rock and grunge with indie rock, drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Blur and contemporary artists such as King Krule.

The creation of "Salad" is described as almost serendipitous, with the bass riff sparking a creative flow that led to the song's rapid completion. The result is a captivating tune that combines foggy, introspective lyrics with melodic guitar lines, creating a symbiotic partnership between words and music.

Lyrically, "Salad" serves as a collective diary of the band's experiences living in London. The vivid storytelling captures the essence of urban life, from the loneliness of planning riots in your head to the mundane reality of eating meal deals in bed. The chorus, "you don’t care about your mind cause you wanna change the world instead," encapsulates the restless energy and idealism of youth struggling to find their place in a sprawling metropolis. The band explain that "The lyrics quickly developed into a kind of collective diary of our group of friends during the two years we lived in London, the 9 of us crammed in a big house on the slopes beneath Telegraph Hill, in the South East. It was an important period of our lives, made up of strong personal bonds and important political discoveries, all of us struggling in our own ways to make sense of where we were going while figuring out how to survive in this endless city."
