Explosive music act Zoon announce new EP Big Pharma, with new single and music video “Astum,” which delves into the addiction towards numbing out traumas. With psychedelic touches to the music video drawing us into a melodic, soft soundscape, the track zeroes in on the wider themes of the forthcoming EP.
Crafted as a short but astute collection of five bold tracks, Big Pharmais set to be Zoon’s attempts are pulling back the curtains on the pharma industry. Exploring very serious themes such as the destruction of lives due to addiction, the body of work seems to be rooted in an urgent, sombre message.
Despite the seemingly alarming theme, the sonics of the album seem to lean towards delicate, hazy instrumentation that put us in a comforting trance with its ethereal, soaring vocal lines over muted a production.
The powerful musical identity of shoegaze act Daniel Monkman, Zoon has come to life as a product of Monkman’s creative talents and perseverant attitude towards the struggles of life as he emerges with decadent layers of music for us to lose ourselves in without losing sight of the deep messages he conveys.
