As Melbourne-based producer/turntablist Kut One prepares to release his new Live Wires 2 compilation, he shares the project’s lead single, “Raised Around Wolves,” featuring snarling guest rhymes from none other than the legendary O.C. (of D.I.T.C fame).
The track is as gritty as the dusty sidewalks with a stripped-down aesthetic ripe with somber bluesy piano chords and crunchy drum grooves that allow O.C's smooth vocals to cut through the mix like a hot knife through butter. The rap elder statesman brings hard-hitting raps to the track with an additional layer of rawness, as he spits autobiographical rhymes about his career, personal life, and the wolves he’s encountered (and defeated) over the years. The record is finally rounded off by some excellent vocal scratches by Kut One who flexes his turntable skills like no man's business.
“Raised Around Wolves” is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms. Live Wires 2 is set to hit DSPs on Thursday, Nov. 11 via Chopping Block Records. In addition to O.C., the 13 track compilation includes guest appearances by KXNG Crooked, Sadat X, Rome Streetz, Recognize Ali, Agallah, Ruste Juxx, Supreme Cerebral, and more.
