Chinwe keeps her inner peace by being "Numb"

Rising London vocalist CHINWE 's new single "Numb" is a somber, reflective tune that dives into external pressures and the coping mechanisms one has to come up with. The bare-bones track is ripe with lush guitar riffs, soft drums all enhanced by her commanding vocal presence and husky melodic tone. The singer looks at the topic in detail and reminds us that yes, she is not impervious to the pressures but she has found the perfect remedy by staying true to herself at all times. On the production side, CHINWE understood the assignment with this guitar-driven piece that forms the perfect canvas for her rich vocals.

"Numb" is the lead single taken from her forthcoming debut EP Scar Tissue. The body of work is a 4-track project that is entirely produced by her and takes elements from jazz, soul, and luminaries such as the legendary Nina Simone and the eclectic Portishead.

The daughter of a Nigerian father and a Jamaican Mother, CHINWE was exposed to an eclectic range of music from an early age. Having played classical violin as a child, she eventually began to favor the guitar and began experimenting with production as an additional creative outlet.
