23-year-old indie artist Abby Sage grew up watching her dad perform at various clubs around Toronto and toying around with a guitar. So, it’s no surprise that she started to write her own songs whne she became a teenager. Sage originally wrote these songs for her ears only. One day, though, a wrong tap on her computer, and suddenly her music was out to the public. A happy accident it was, because today, Sage releases her fourth track, the new hypnotizing single, "Smoke Break."
A track about moving on, the production is filled with lazy guitars and shredding, spacey, alien-like synths. It feels like we’re on a rocket ship, floating away to space where this song is the only thing we can hear. While the production is reminiscent of a band like Men I Trust, her singing feels like Norah Jones. Sage’s vocals are delicate, fluctuating from folk to blues.
Sage released her first three singles in 2020. After much praise, “Smoke Break” comes off of a new, upcoming project. Be sure to keep up to date as Sage releases more news.
