In his first two albums artist Folamour experimented with various styles, from lo-fi pop to house to jazz to disco. Earlier this year, Folamour released the lead single “Just Want Happiness” for his new album. Today, returning to his own label FHUO, he’s back with “The Journey Ft. Zeke Manyika”, which also works as the album’s title.

In the track, Folamour, with the help of Zimbabwean vocalist Zeke Manyika, steps into the disco sound. As a fan of Orange Juice-the iconic 80’s Scottish post-punk band, it's a major accolade and sign of artistic recognition to have the former OJ member Manyika featured on this track. With Manyika’s vocals tied with Folamour’s modern funk production of synth and drums, the track transcends all expectations and boundaries.

The new album is set for release in late June, featuring other collaborations with artists like SG Lewis and Tertia May. Speaking of the project, Folamour says his inspiration came from “moments that marked me, changed me, feelings that I could carry strong within me, trials and surprises. To express all these emotions, I deeply changed my way of composing, […] putting aside samples and computers and concentrating on writing texts, recording strings and brass, drums, voice too, in order to be as close as possible to the moment I wanted to represent. I set no limits on format or genre, allowing me the freedom to choose the right tool for the picture.” He’s obviously found a method that works the best for him, so we should be curious as to how that reflects in his sound and style.
