NY's Your Old Droog and Atlanta's Tha God Fahim team up once again for a full-length project titled Tha YOD Fahim. The project is the follow-up to their collaborative EP Tha Wolf On Wall St’, which was released early last month. The 14 track album boasts a solid feature from rap veteran Pharoahe Monch—on the album single, “Slam Dunk Contest” and has production from Nottz and Quelle Chris, among others, with five tracks produced by Fahim himself.
The duo's effortless chemistry on this latest release goes without saying. Tha YOD Fahim is all about raw lyricism and dope beats bolstered by the duo's devil may care demeanor. Tracks like the rock-infused "Icee Shop/Entrées," and "Charles Barkley " both produced by DJ Preservation capture the undiluted energy of both rappers as they bring the proverbial big guns to the battlefield. The standout cut “Slam Dunk Contest” has Pharoahe Monch flexing his verbal biceps alongside the duo over the scenic backdrop courtesy of Nottz while the Fahim produced "WNBA" has a somber vibe and centers on Your old Droog and his girl.
Tha YOD Fahim brings something new and refreshing to modern hip-hop with its concentrated and somewhat offbeat approach. From the basketball references and complex rhyme schemes to the clever storytelling wordplay, listeners are treated to an uncompromising body of work from two prolific artists who follow their own path.
