Rising Norwegian duo Jimmy Smash sooth your troubles away with "Over"

Fast-rising Norwegian duo Jimmy Smash kick off their 2021 with soulful alt-pop offering “Over,” which lulls listeners into a much-needed hypnotic trance. With slow-building beats and layered harmonies married seamlessly into soothing vocals, the track acts like salve on frayed nerves as it leads you away from your troubles with its inviting musicality.

The many years that the pair—Mikkel Graham Guttormsen and Håvard Lyngstad—have put into honing their craft is easily noticeable in this heavenly slice of alt- pop.Bringing a multitude of musical influences together with introspective lyricism, the comforting track leans into Jimmy Smash’s familiar brand of chill R&B meets catchy electro-pop while still keeping things fresh with modern touches into their retro feel.

Speaking of their newest offering, the band said,“Over is about not feeling good enough for someone or that you do not fit in with who you are with. Sometimes it comes to a point that you no longer feel important. The sketch of the song went very slowly forward, and in the beginning,  it sounded most like the background music you can hear in a massage studio. This song is for anyone who wants a calm start to the morning.”

Since the beginning of their musical journey with a stunning cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic “Landslide,” Jimmy Smash have made it a point to consciously break down the confines of pop music by sprinkling meaningful warmth into easy-listen earworm melodies. From their debut single “Macadamian” in 2017 to following offerings “Say It Again,” and “Under,” last year, the pair have steadily grown their talents, streams and fanbase with “Over,” undeniably setting them up for much bigger things in the future.

Striking a perfect balance between being delicately calming and brilliantly addictive with their music, Jimmy Smash prove that they will unfailingly lift your mood up with their magical and versatile musicality.
