Desert Hearts label head Mikey Lion releases the first single ahead of newly announced For The Love LP. His debut album continues his path of transparency and positivity, For The Love has an official release date of April 28 on Desert Hearts Records. "Above The Clouds" marks the first sighting of the forthcoming album and it certainly lives up to it's title.
Differentiating from prior releases from Lion "Above The Clouds" takes on a melodic approach. Uplifting and eclectic, the single takes the listener through a journey into the mindset of lion. Featuring melodic chords and synths the track has a psychedelic feel in the most tasteful way yet steering away from prior production style seen from Mikey.
"This album has been eight years in the making ever since we threw our very first Desert Hearts party back in 2012," Mikey says of the new single and album. "It’s a culmination of everything that I’ve learned, felt, and believed in over the years. The first single, Above The Clouds, is what House Heaven feels like to me. It’s dreamy, it's powerful, and it makes me feel good."
His debut album For The Love is an outgrowth of Lion’s journey over the past eight years, of questioning one’s path and finding oneself, of triumph and failure, and the importance of community. With the first taste of the forthcoming album, its safe to say that Mikey Lion fans are in for a treat come the official release of the full album.
