Alessia Labate blazes down the “Highway” on dance-pop single

Alessia Labate is a 23-year-old pop singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer hailing from Milan. On her latest venture “Highway,” Labate teams up German artist/producer Leonail. The up-tempo single is released via Golden Chocolate and was mixed and mastered by Vic Cuccia (Sofia Reyes, Ty Dolla $ign).

“Highway” bridges the sonic gap between pop radio friendly and dance floor ready. It leans on a rapid, stylish composition and enhanced by Labate’s bracing vocals. On the narrative surface, it’s a fun, carefree treasure of a song. However, digging deeper the song serves as an escapism anthem, evoking listeners to realize at this point there’s no time like the future.

Looking back at Labate’s 2020 discography she’s released solo singles “Just Love,” “OMG,” and “Something Special” while also finding time to link up with several other producers around the world to lay down her vocals. While her mainstay is within pop, Labate has shown great strides fluctuating genres from alt-pop to EDM-infused endeavors. With “Highway,” Labate has shared her most accessible single yet and a sure fire hit when finally played at summer festivals around the world.

Catching up with Labate over email she shared, “I wrote ‘Highway’ a year ago, it was meant to be for another artist but I felt I had to keep it for me and find the right producer for it. Leonail and me have been friends for a couple years now and we've been sending each other beats and vocals ever since. I sent ‘Highway’ with no expectation and what I got back was my dream come true—production and vocals seamlessly blend together into the perfect dance song track (imo)! One year ago the song was just about having fun while travelling with friends, now it's way more: it's an escape from reality, it's a wish, it's a mantra. Can't wait to play it in the car while riding on the highway! We still have to wait a little bit for that."

“Highway” follows her 2020 single “Something Special.” Alessia Labate plans to release more music in 2021.
