Emerging producer Feaz caught our attention with his new release "Played Games" that coincides with the second national lockdown in the UK. The track sees the North England artist work with British-Nigerian rapper Megzy the Riter and singer Le Sedi who both intertwine their unique styles over the atmospheric backdrop laid before them. Feaz's dynamic production truly captures the cycle of strangers becoming lovers and becoming strangers again.
The texture of the track is somber and the drum arrangement is sparse which allows the artists involved to explore the space quite differently and share their experiences on a doomed relationship. The record starts with a lush dub guitar stab and Le Sedi's filtered vocals leading into Megzy the Riter's verse. Megzy dives into the matter candidly with lines like "And I was like roses are dead, violets are too and if your friends gave you a gun I know you'd shoot" as he tries to figure out how love could end up on a gloomy note. Le Sedi takes the reins with her sultry approach and gives her 2 cents on the track. The track slowly changes when her vocals come in and the backdrop becomes more atmospheric and somewhat haunting.
