Brooklyn’s DESNA has joined Kuukou Records with a new stunningly unique three-track EP, Frou Frou, featuring a remix by Simina Grigoriu. As one of DJ Mag’s emerging acts to watch in 2019, she channels a futuristic sound; though her sound is heavily techno-focused, she pulls inspiration from a variety of genres to create a vast system of soundscapes. DESNA is premiering the title track “Frou Frou” exclusively on EARMILK for your listening pleasure.
Heavy on the percussion from the very first second, and tail-spinning into a deep, hypnotic groove, DESNA showcases her sound to the full with this one. Naming artists such as Ben Klock, Len Faki and Radio Slave as some of her inspiration, it’s easy to understand where her sound has developed from. “Frou Frou”’s commanding bassline and intense, pressure-filled build ups make it the perfect soundtrack for those dark after-hours in the club. A sprinkling of vocals, repeating “work it” throughout the build ups give the track that extra-memorable edge.
If your sound is atmospheric club bangers, then look no further than DESNA. Captivating, energetic and charming, there aren’t many artists who have the balance as spot on; regardless of whether you’re at home or in the club, tracks like this are suitable for any occasion. With the rest of the EP remaining just as impressive, there are no doubts we’ll be hearing much more from her in the coming months.
Frou Frou can be pre-ordered via Beatport.
