John Jigg$ and Bubba Rock blend a bit of nostalgia and self-consciousness on"Gordan Gartrelle," a track taken from Jigg$'s new full-length Jigganometry project. The title references a fictional fashion designer from a fan-favorite episode of The Cosby Show, while the song itself dwells on being assertive and self-aware.
Backed by a smooth soul sample that staunch fans will no doubt recognize, the duo share their personal stories of living in the hood and how external forces can ultimately influence decisions for better or worse. With a somber backdrop, the emcees do more than carry the listener along with their contemplative lyrics.
The visual follows both emcees in their respective stomping grounds and the nostalgic theme is reinforced with clips of the "Gordan Gartrelle" episode from The Cosby Show. The episode – which focuses on Theo – follows his desperate antics to own a designer shirt to impress others. Like Jigg$ says "…The pillars of integrity, digital celebrities who drown the misery of your jealousy…" he is way past trying to please everyone.
