It’s been a hot minute since Ross From Friends AKA Felix Clary Weatherall released new music, leaving fans eagerly waiting over the past 12 months. Following on from the likes of his Epiphany EP in 2019 and critically acclaimed debut album Family Portrait, Weatherall has returned for 2021 with the highly anticipated launch of his Scarlet Tiger label and his first single on the imprint, "Burner".

Introduced with sprightly bass and crisp percussion, "Burner" injects synth structures that are sprinkled with Ross From Friends’ signature melodic flavour. Weaving layer upon layer, Weatherall adds subtle warp textures and vocal samples that rapidly dissipate to heighten a vivid synth build. Returning to flood the senses once more in this firmly arranged ensemble, "Burner" catapults to deeper pad pulses, inherent with the intricacy from Weatherall that has struck a chord since his come up.

As the label sets off on a flying launch with this triumphant first release, Weatherall says Scarlet Tiger will explore similar themes that have appeared in his previous work: "I’ve always sent music back and forth with friends and folk I’ve met online over the years, amassing all of this music, so it made perfect sense for me to start a label to release all of it."

Continuing the intimate approach, Weatherall will also delve into his photography archive for the label’s art direction, with every release feeling raw and personal, “there seems to be a general path that flows through all of the things that grab me which is some kind of UK electronic music."

Ross From Friends' "Burner" is out now via newly launched label Scarlet Tiger, available to buy / stream here.
