Junia-T's and Jessie Reyez's "Sad Face Emojis" takes a jab at one-sided relationships

Ahead of his debut album, Junia-T has teamed up with longtime musical collaborator Jessie Reyez on “Sad Face Emojis”, the fifth release from Junia-T's upcoming album, Studio Monk.

The pair’s vibe is intuitive. Complemented by an array of cascading synths, groovy bass, and modest strings and brass, Junia-T’s electro-soul production provides a rich backdrop for Jessie’s smouldering vocals to melt into. “Sad Face Emojis” paints Jessie under a fluorescent moonlight, alone and sick of being the only one investing into a relationship. She sings her woes away with a glass of whisky and gets her feelings off her chest by sending a sad face emoji to an indifferent lover.

2020 finds both musicians at the peak of their creativity. Both are due to release their highly anticipated debut albums in the new year.
