Transforming the 50’s pop sensation that was Bobby Darin’s ‘Splish Splash’ into a playful rock anthem, Slothrust release their catchy punk cover. The track highlights lively electric guitars, thumping drums and cymbals crashing at every twist and turn. This distinctly danceable tune radiates with Slothrust’s brand of spirited spunk.
The indie-punk outfit consists of daring aesthete Leah Wellbaum, with drummer Will Gorin and bassist Kyle Bann. Wellbaum reveals, "Two of my favorite things in the world are music and bath time. There are no words that can express the massive reset button that gets pressed in my mind and body when I take a good bath. When I'm in the tub, it's a time to reconnect and enjoy my deeper self, and Bobby Darin's version of this special, sudsy moment offers exactly that… but with a plot twist. Even though I wouldn't necessarily be psyched for a dance party to be going on right outside of my bathroom while I'm trying to take it easy, I certainly do love singing about it on this cover."
Tremendously versatile, the band’s dynamic live shows are a driving force in their widening success. From their outstanding originals to uniquely captivating covers like "Baby, One More Time by Britney Spears and "Sex and Candy" by Marcy Playground, fans blissfully revel in their striking sound. ‘Splish Splash’ is off of their latest EP Peach. Check it out and take a sudsy soak of your own.
