Rising R&B singer Carrie. just released "Kill Me," an entrancing lo-fi R&B song with soothing melodies that draw us in and seem to never let go. The singer's delicate vocal delivery doesn't leave room for questions; this is an intimate track that's best left on repeat.
She extends the lyrics "I know you're empty" early in the track before later flipping to a more personal reflection by saying "you know I'm empty" on the chorus. The hook for "Kill Me" is gradually hypnotizing: its snaps and lightly pulsating nature leave way for Carrie.'s introspective lyrics to resonate more with every second.
Carrie. is the First Lady of Play Runners Association, the label home to Bay Area rap standouts like ALLBLACK and Offset Jim. The 24-year-old San Francisco native only started making her own music late last year and recorded her entire upcoming Pharmakon EP in her bedroom. She wrote and sang on each of the project's tracks, while also working on the production herself.
Even before the release of her debut EP, Carrie. is already putting together an undeniably intriguing narrative around her career and music. It's as mysterious as it is exciting.
Check out "Kill Me" up above and stay tuned for the August 9th release of her Pharmakon EP, which is available for preorder here.
