Having released "Afterglow" almost half a year ago, Vancouver three-piece electronic R&B act I M U R is finally releasing the official visuals for the sultry smooth track. While the alt-pop track was notably tinged with pastel pinks and soulful blues, the visuals for "Afterglow", tell a very different narrative.
"There's no peaks without valleys, and you can't survive on ice-cream," the trio note. The video, filmed in East Vancouver, follows an older woman plugging into VR to escape her normal, stereotypical life; she doesn't want to knit and shrivel up. Instead, the woman wants to be a pop-star, to explore her sexuality and satisfy her curiosities—she wants the thrill of a lifetime in what time she has left. It's a beautiful and moving journey, highlighted by the colourful lyrics that blend visceral vulnerability into a nostalgic dreamworld.
