Mangoseed is a UK-based quartet made up of four musicians of Trinidadian, Jamaican, Australian and Irish descent. Helmed by vocalist Nicholai La Barrie, guitarist Karlos Coleman, Richard Hardy on bass and Sam Campbell on drums, Mangoseed mash up a wide variety of global sounds ranging from ska and soca, dub, jungle, and funk. On their new release titled "Still Believe", they team up with producer Sam Dyson to deliver a rousing and heartfelt message about love and the courage to face our fears.
Frontman Nicholai La Barrie delivers his proclamations by way of a potent vocal melody atop the quartet’s heavyweight alliance of enormous bass, and ethereal guitar. The music is rich with a classic dub in the tradition of Black Uhuru, King Tubby and Mad Professor, all driven by the percussive thrust of Rastafarian Nyabinghi rhythms.
The video focuses on the send forth of an elderly woman who we can presume is taking a trip back to her roots. Flanked by family and well-wishers she savors each passing moment until it's time to leave. She takes one last look at the place she has called home for many years and reflects on good times.
