The Manchester-based tech house trio MASON Collective has been reshaping the local music scene with their solid production and DJing skills. Fresh off their headlining show at the legendary London nightclub Fabric, they are prepared well to do some more damages.
The latest offering from MASON Collective, Mazzina EP, has just arrived hot on the Spanish landmark tech house imprint Sanity, by Cuartero. "We’ve been fans of Cuartero for years so for him to be feeling our sound and want to release our music on his label is massive," says Mason Collective.
The title track "Mazzina" is an absolutely floor-thumbing, tribal-influenced anthem. Packed with crunchy percussion, swelling bass, and vocal cuts, it is a peak-time climax tailored made for any warehouse parties. Not to mention that elements of jacking tech make it an absolute storm full of nostalgia. On the other hand, "Space 9" is primed for after hour dancefloors. Underpinning its steely four-on-the-floor rhythm are layers of piston-powered hi-hats. Trembling with energy, the splintering vocal chops paired with gravelly basslines keep you locked in throughout the whole track. Last but not least, Secondcity's remix of "Space 9" swaddles you in a mysterious aura, juxtaposing ambience and density. In fact, MASON Collective has tested the track out in the dancefloor. "We dropped the track with him[Secondcity] in Birmingham last week and it went off!" MASON Collective shares.
Besides launching their own imprint WHIPPIN just last month, MASON Collective is also the face of Footasylum’s latest campaign with Adidas. With new chapters in different realms waiting ahead, the guys are ready to take over the world with their unique take on Manchester's underground culture.
