Dermot Kennedy is continuing his meteoric musical trajectory with "Power Over Me", which premiered on Annie Mac's Hottest Record in the World on Tuesday.
"Power Over Me" continues the enigmatic Irish songwriter's exploration into the fusion of roots folk and hip-hop. It starts on a hum and bubbles over as Kennedy's immensely powerful vocal takes centre stage, backed by a triumphant gospel sound. "Power Over Me" is lyrically bold and deeply emotional. Written by Kennedy, Canadian producing giant Koz and Scott Harris, Kennedy says "the whole song started with just that one idea, that sole lyric of ‘you've got that power over me.’ The idea of being totally bewitched by somebody, to be totally under their spell, in a really good way."
Kennedy is about to embark on his third sold out North American tour in little less than a year, and the twenty-five year old is showing no signs of slowing.
