You may know Bay Area MC and producer Azure as 1/3 of the group Down2Earth or from his work with Iamsu!. What you may not know, however, is that Azure is also a solo artist and at the end of last month the hip-hop creative released his project Godspeed. If you are looking for a project to soundtrack your journey through these turbulent times we are facing in the world, Azure created 10 tracks just for you.
Now, he has returned with a visual for a standout track from the Godspeed titled "Lemons".
The Phil Park produced "Lemons" has a nostalgic g-funk vibe that instantly takes you back to the days of Nate Dogg and Warren G. To match that chill, sunny day vibe; Kevin Curro and Azure joined forces to create a stunning visual of Azure riding and walking around his San Fransisco neighborhood, with the drone shots of Azure and his friends admiring their hometown beaches becoming an optical cherry on top.
Azure shared with EARMILK:
"'Lemons' had a unique creation. It was the longest I've ever worked on a song, almost a year and a half since the initial recording. Being the oldest song on the project, I had a lot of time to get tired of it time and time again and evolve it each time. A cool part was sparking a friendship with fellow Hip-Hop nerd record enthusiast Phil Park who produced the record. During the mixing stage, Drew Banga drifted into my session at Different Fur and blessed us with a magical bassline, that was like the cherry."
