Boombox Cartel taps Panama for indie dance bop "People I Know"

You've got to love when artists wander out of their comfort zone and deliver an absolute heatseeker of a record. With their new single "People I Know," trap duo Boombox Cartel did just that, eschewing their penchant for rip-roaring bass and teaming up with Panama for a satiny indie dance bop. Crisp percussion patterns and fluttering arpeggios are present throughout here, giving it a quirky synthpop vibe that meshes perfectly with Panama's electro-soul stylings. The terms "synthpop" and "nu-disco" are not words normally associated with Boombox Cartel, whose music is not for the faint of heart, but they hit the nail on the head with this one. The fact that an artist can release something as thunderous as this and then follow it up a mere two months later with this, shows just how versatile they are behind the boards.
