It feels like just yesterday that rapper Pell first linked up with collaborators in the electronic music space to join in on some new music. That was with Big Gigantic in 2016, and now the New Orleans born and raised rapper has returned again to give notice to the world on the out of the box projects that can come when artists from the hip-hop and electronic worlds can create when they put their heads together.
While NGHTMRE is a DJ and producer associated with the bass music scene, his work with Pell on their Magic Hour EP culminates in two tracks of laid back beats. This is attention-grabbing as a surprise on its own, but in the end, each track – "Swiss" and "Lights Low" – stands out in their own right. Magic Hour is out now via Mad Decent.
