Axwell is establishing a pattern. Reminiscent of the ever present angst we experienced waiting for just about every single release from the now defunct Swedish House Mafia, its former member with the second longest hair is harnessing the power of the waiting game with his latest release. As he did reviving "Mantra" in 2015, Axwell has resurfaced a remix that has been nearly a decade in the making for its official debut.
The track is his own remix of Pauls Paris's "Make Your Mind Up" done alongside NEW_ID (not to be confused with the also Axtone frequenting NO_ID). Signed in 2010, the original track was debuted on the now infamous Swedish House Mafia Essential Mix on Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 show in 2011.
Over the years, Axwell worked on his edit, while just in 2017 did NEW_ID come into the picture to work on this final remode what we're seeing today. Last month, Danny Howard debuted the track in its new form again.
The amazing thing about this track is that we can feel its history. While we've seen Axwell move onto pop music as Axwell /\ Ingrosso, this track takes us right back to where Axwell made his initial splash in progressive house music's big room heyday. It has some contemporary elements as well, with some subtleties and nod to rock music. Check it out above and reminisce.
