On this latest offering, Montreal’s own Wasiu serves up a heaping helping of late night goodness with “Cigarettes & Poutine.” Produced by Planet Giza with an accompanying verse by Basics, “C & P” is an ode to late night munchies and the smell of Wasiu’s hometown.
The premise of “C & P” is a relatable one that finds Wasiu at some function with his homies only to then hit a late night food spot for the post game. Wasiu being Wasiu though, he perfectly highlights a few choice interactions to make the song leap out the speakers. From a fight with his mom about his clothing smelling like cigarettes (even though he doesn’t smoke) to a mini brawl on the street sparked by drunk misinterpretation, Wasiu breathes life into his scenes. Sprinkle in Basics smooth closing verse and Giza’s electronic instrumental, and you’ve got another impressive track by the MTL resident.
“Cigarettes & Poutine” is the second single off of Wasiu’s project, MTLiens 2, which will hopefully hit shelves soon. Until it does, give the single a listen above and be sure to stay locked on EARMILK for more dope music.
