Chicago MC Aris P is shaping up to be one of the smoothest young rappers in the game. On his latest joint, “Personal Goals” he showcases why he’s deserving of that title over a Freddie Joachim beat that is more mellow than sipping an umbrella clad mai tai in a beachside hammock.
On “Personal Goals,” Aris outlines his desire to make us (the listeners) dream and feel something. Aside from being an admirable goal, it’s a nice change of pace in 2017. Every song out there seems to either be selfish as hell or about PMW, making this track that much more refreshing.
The way this guy flows over these summertime beats feels like he was born to do it. It’s like watching John John Florence surf, regardless of how gnarly the ocean may be, he makes it look easy and effortless. And on top of his casually rolling flow, Aris drops some hilarious and on point punches throughout “Personal Goals.” “Yall blockin the pupil like cataracts,” or “Sleeping on me, but I do love this. I’m about to wake you from your dreams like it’s true love’s kiss.” Fire.
Press play on “Personal Goals” above and enjoy the sunshine flowing out your speakers as we slowly make the march towards Fall.
