After a year focused on celebrating its 10th anniversary, expanding deadmau5's presence through touring and merch concepts, and growing newly signed artists like REZZ, mau5trap has added another to-do to its 2017: signing new artists. That latest signing is Shotty Horroh, with the Manchester, UK rapper's first single on the label out today.
Horroh's rap career isn't beginning with mau5trap, as we've seen his career bubbling through multiple EP releases on his own and most recently, a collaboration with Tory Lanez. Today marks his official crossover to a unique version of g-house, where hip hop and electronic music intersect. It also marks the first foray outside of mau5trap's signature progressive and techno sounds, with the label-head deadmau5 at the helm. Straddling the line between glitch hop and pop, this track could have come across as inauthentic or trying too hard, but it makes the mark by being just experimental enough.
