Something strange is happening in the city of Chicago. It feels like every new promising artist either hails from the windy city or is spending time there. Artists like Smino, Rayvn Leane and Mick Jenkins all live in Chicago, and today we’ve got another up and comer for ya.
Introducing, Aris P.

Featuring fellow Chicago talent monAerie on the hook, Aris delivers “Midnight Blue,” a buttery smooth track over productions from Childish Gambino’s “The Palisades.”
Rapping over a semi-well-known track is a smart move for Aris for a couple of reasons. For starters, it’s a hot beat. “The Palisades” is a standout from Gambino’s 2014 mixtape, Kauai, and will be easily recognizable to hip-hop heads the world over. Second, it takes the focus away from the productions and rests the spotlight solely on the shoulders of Aris. This allows him complete freedom to rap and lets fans judge him based on his ability, and not on any overshadowing productions.
And speaking of rapping ability, Aris does his thing. His flow is smooth and confident, and he peppers the track with an array of catchy one-liners making “Midnight Blue” enjoyable all around.
There isn't much known about the Chicago spitter, he’s got little to no social media presence and seemingly came out of nowhere, but he’s certainly one to watch. Give “Midnight Blue feat monAerie” a spin above, and stay tuned to EARMILK for all things dope music.
