Chicago and the DMV collide on Mick Jenkin’s latest track, “Pressed for time (Cross my mind)” featuring Goldlink. “Pressed for time” is the most recent track we’ve received from Mick since his project, The Healing Component, dropped last year, and it will certainly tide fans over until he releases his follow up albums.
The song finds Mick and Gold spitting verses addressed to different women. Mick starts things off with the angle of getting to know his lady, rather than just physical sex. “It really makes me no difference if you don't open your legs More interested in introspective conversation instead.” On the other hand, Goldlink comes in with his usual rap/singing cadence to deliver an opposite and more aggressive perspective. “Now take off your garments and don't be shy, I'll fuck you regardless.”
The result is a wonderfully balanced track that juxtaposes not only the two artists' styles but also their perspective. All done over a cosmic and creative beat produced by fellow Chicagoans Monte Booker and THEMpeople, “Pressed for time (Crossed my mind)” is a hit. What’s more, this hit is but merely a track Mick had lying in the vault.
Upon release of the song, Mick took to Twitter explaining that “Pressed for time” is just something to tide fans over until he releases not one, but two, new projects in 2017. It’s safe to say it’s going to be a good year for all of us when those projects see the light of day.
Until they do, give “Pressed for time (Crossed my mind)” a listen above and stay tuned to EARMILK for all things good music.
