Soulful serenades float atop sleepy riffs on Common Souls' officially released debut EP, Pyramid Lake. The Los Angeles-based electronic R&B duo combine blues and jazz into their dreamy, self-proclaimed "Electronic Sad Music" sound space. Vocalist/ guitarist Ryan Yoo and keyboardist/drummer Nick Velez submerged themselves in a remote cabin without cell service or Wifi to write Pyramid Lake's emotionally transparent lyrics, which inspire wintery daydreaming. The duo received the Song of the Year award via John Lennon's Songwriting Contest in 2015 for the track "Arizona," propelling Common Souls into the spotlight. The track "Roots // Habit" expands on their evolving lyrical prowess, and the Intro and final two tracks set the hazy tone with masterful melancholy. Stream the EP below!
