Marty Baller is a name that not many hip hop heads would have recognized a couple of years ago. Known to some as A$AP Ferg's hypeman, he has made a name for himself as a rapper in the past two years. First, he dropped "Things We Go Through", which garnered some attention but wasn't enough to put him onto the average hip hop fan's radar. After touring with YG and A$AP Ferg, the Harlem artist dropped "Big Timers" with A$AP Ferg 10 months ago, cementing himself as a part of the future of the New York hip-hop scene. Since then, he has released a few songs on his SoundCloud, highlighted by "I'm A Dog" and "Inferno".
On November 11th Marty Baller released his debut mixtape, titled Marty G Raw. This tape shows his versatility and proves he has the potential to be a big player in New York rap scene. Many different producers are featured on this project, but only two other artists got verses: Migos and A$AP Ferg. "Big Timers", "Inferno", and "I'm A Dog" are all previous singles that made the mixtape, but "Nola Girl" seems to be another track to point the spotlight towards. This track shows off his ability to make music that radiates a New York sound without containing a hyped up trap beat. If he continues to release high-quality music, 2017 could be a big year for the up-and-coming Harlem emcee.
