Sometimes the most melodic and seemingly effortless tracks are the most complex to make. In Sebastian Carter's latest, "Shallow Waters," he is able to orchestrate a tapestry of vibrant sound and feeling the resonates on an ethereal level. His synths are picked and painted with the precious of an artist creating a mosaic. Light rolling drums percuss throughout as he intertwines live-recorded sounds of nature with layered synthesizers. It creates this expressive palate that emulates that feeling of walking alongside a slow rolling river bed, stepping over limbs and leaves, journeying further with slight trepidation, but an eager sense of awe for what you may stumble upon. Shallow Waters is off his debut EP, City Lights, out September 23.
