This is a long shot, but I used to listen to a New Zealand rap group by the name of Bliss N Eso. I don't expect them to be widely known by our readers, but I must preface this post with a description of their style and effect on me. During the time I listened to them, they strayed from the norm in a way that no one else had, not only with accents but with mood and rhythm. I'm excited I have a new group to share today from Cosa Nostra Records by the name of 2nd Exit who exemplifies the same traits.
British musicians and emcees Alfa Mist and Lester Duval make up this mellow mood duo, hailing from London and looking to debut their first EP on May 27th. They fuse together jazz and hip hop in a way that is my personal favorite, but accomplish something outside of today's not so intuitive hip hop game (you all know it, but no one says it). "Say It Is" is a mix between the versatility of A Tribe Called Quest and the intensity of Binary Star. I'm thoroughly satisfied with this new find, and I know any fan of british rap and hip hop would agree.
