What happens when you bring together upcoming Future Bass producer San Holo and leading Trap trio Yellow Claw? Absolute madness in the most beautiful sense. This magic is found all in the form of the track "Alright", released via OWSLA today. "Alright" is a preview into the label's Worldwide Broadcast compilation, out on the 29th. The anticipated compilation consists of exciting new remixes and originals by artists including Skrillex, Louis the Child, Getter, Alvin Risk, josh pan and more.
When I initially saw the announcement that the two would be working together, I expected a hard-hitting festival banger and a subwoofer buster. Instead I was surprised what the collaboration had in store for the average listener. A diversified array of sound and carefully curated synths created for an innovative track from both fellow Dutch producers. The bouncy bass and pitchy synths create for a jarring combination with the mellowed down beats. The jagged melodies layered over the pitch-fluctuated vocals create for a peculiar emotional sensation that chills the bones. "Alright" does not fail to amuse in a technical sense, but additionally tickles at the heart with its tone and hopeful lyrics mixed with intricate sound design. In the electronic scene, it's easy to get caught up in the hype of trends, following a cookie cutter format for your standard party favourite. What San Holo and Yellow Claw manage to do is contribute their individualized musical flair and construct a solid electronic track, saturated in both skill and concept.
