I'm starting to realize just how long I've been writing here for, and how many people I've seen grow in the process. 3 short years have felt like a journey through different careers, some showing up only once, and others growing as I write more about them. One of the latter group is Rambo V, a DJ/producer out of the great city of San Diego.
Rambo has definitely rounded out his rigid edges, trying his hand in everything from "California Soul" to the likes of Tame Impala, and even an edit of Outkast. His taste and love for music shows through his progression, and most of the time I'm intrigued by his song choice. The selection for this week is none other than Jamie xx and his track "Sleep Sound", a track that (in my opinion) takes much more than a few years of experience to create a hit remix off of. However, Rambo goes simple on this one, and it pays off. Rather than add the eclectic nature we're used to from him (like in his edit of "Nangs") we get a cleaned up version of the original, with V's classic house ensemble.
