I love this emerging trend of socially conscious rap over dope party-level banging, and with the prevalence of police brutality being clearer than it has been in a long time, the lyrics to this song strike the heart and pierce the soul.
While the song was written all the way in March, it is a stark reminder that these events have been occurring long before the news-world found their way to the story, and it particularly hurts to hear a song like this, even when it's over such a catchy beat. Overall, it's one of those songs we could hear in the club, but also spend hours thinking about as well.
