When it was announced that each member from Top Dawg Entertainment would be putting out an album this year, the hip hop community was shocked. Everyone wanted to know if Kendrick Lamar could surpass the impact of Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City, some people wondered what ScHoolboy Q and Ab-Soul would deliver, and a few heads piped up and asked when we'd hear more fire from Jay Rock. And while I love everybody on the label, I, like most rap fans, couldn't wait to hear more from the Follow Me Home rapper. Thankfully, the Watts soldier stays true to his roots, as bumping "Parental Advisory" gave me the same chills that tracks like "Code Red" gave me way back when.

With it's heavy, West Coast style beat–probably due to the sample from Snoop Dogg's "Pump Pump" and "Tha Shiznit"– and lyrical is the one member from label that I can't wait to here more from. Video wise, "Advisory" is a reflection of Rock's style: raw, uncut, full of energy, and straight to the point. He keeps things simple with a number of shots of him rapping near Nickerson Gardens and we get a sense of what he's got in store for us album wise. While we have no word of when the album's dropping, let's hope that TDE keeps their word and comes through with some new heat from Jay Rock.
